Obituary for Victor Michael King

Victor Michael King, Sr., 79, of LaGrange, Georgia passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on January 28, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Winard Brown King, Sr. and Maude Still King, as well as his two brothers, Winard Brown King, Jr. and Kenneth Lee King.

Mike was born in Lagrange on August 1, 1943. He was the owner and operator of King Furniture Company for many years, but, after an early retirement from the family business, he chose to remain active in managing his various investment properties.

An avid scuba diver, spear fisherman, and boater, Mike loved the water and often sought out adventure. He enjoyed traveling, especially in his motor home, with his wife, family, and friends, and looked for any reason to trailer the jet skis to new and exciting destinations.

Mike was gifted with a truly technical mind and a curiosity that had no bounds. With a deep love for woodworking and anything with a motor, he was a builder and fixer of all things. But, above all, he loved people. Mike could find an interest in every person he met, converse at any level, and make each person feel equal in that moment. His laugh was contagious, and no one laughed harder at his jokes than he did. But no matter his interest at the time, whether it be a good nap, an exciting trip, or something that needed fixing, he always gave 150%.
Mike is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Bonnie King of LaGrange, Georgia; his children Kandice King of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Michael and Misty King of LaGrange, Georgia; his grandchildren, Anna, Jason, and Molly King, of LaGrange, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews that he adored with all his heart.

The family with receive friends Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter-Allen-Myhand at 506 Hill Street in LaGrange, Georgia. Visitation will be between the hours of 2:00 pm-3:00 pm with a memorial service to immediately follow. The family will then welcome friends at their home at 603 Hill Street to celebrate Mike’s life and legacy.

In consideration of Mike’s love for animals, donations in his honor may be made to the Troup County Humane Society at 1390 Orchard Hill Road, LaGrange, Georgia or to any local shelter. Flowers, condolences, and prayers will also be accepted.
