Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Harlin

Mary Elizabeth Harlin, age 90, passed away on April 8, 2023 at Tanner Hospital, Wedowee. She was born on November 6, 1932 to the late Alexander Monroe Anderson and Beulah Adcock Anderson. Elizabeth grew up in LaGrange with her seven brothers and sisters of which she was the last. She worked at Callaway Mills, Playtex, and Westinghouse.

Elizabeth was a lifelong member of Murphy Avenue Church of Christ in LaGrange. She was baptized July 23, 1944 and her faith guided her all of her life. In later years she attended Napoleon Church of Christ in Randolph County, Alabama.

Elizabeth had a good sense of humor and could always come up with a joke or a funny story. She loved to laugh. Her home was always clean, and she was an excellent cook. She loved to try new recipes and she made delicious desserts (Black Walnut Cake, Coconut Cake, and Coconut Pie) as well as the best Mac’n Cheese ever.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her siblings, Dewey Adcock, Vernon Anderson, James Anderson, Willie Mae Duke, Rose Lee Veal, Beulah Anderson, Eunice Swicagood; her first husband, Floyd Prince; her second husband, Elmer Ray Harlin; her stepson, Phillip G. Harlin; her step-grandson, David Greever. She is survived by her two step sons, Gene Harlin (Brenda) of Opelika, AL, Dan Harlin (Gail), of Woodbury, MN, ; step daughter in law, Paula Harlin, of Lanett, AL., three step grandchildren, Amelia Greever (Joshua) of Lake Elmo, MN, Jason Harlin (Katie) of Opelika, AL, Gregory Harlin, of Dallas, TX ; six step great grandchildren, Daniel Greever, Anna Greever, Lydia Greever, Peter Greever, Whitley Harlin, and Addie Harlin. She is survived by many nieces and nephews when loved so very much.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand, LaGrange, GA from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023 beginning at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange, GA.

The family would like to thank all her caregivers at “The Manor Assisted Living in Roanoke, AL and Traylor Retirement Center Nursing Home, Roanoke, AL for all your genuine love and care for her. She was so well taken care of. The family is accepting flowers or donations be made in memory of Mary Harlin to a charitable organization of your choice.
