Obituary for Josie Mae Dollar
Mrs. Josie Mae Dollar, of LaGrange, passed away on December 3, 2022. She was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi on November 18, 1933 to the late Israel Culver and Jessie Mae Culver. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Zelma E. Dollar and her sister, Joyce Dozier.
Mrs. Dollar served as food service manager for the Troup County school system for more than 20 years. After retirement, Mrs. Dollar served in the community, with the Troup county Active life program. serving both meals and as a senior companion for more than 7 years. Mrs. Dollar was a member of the First Baptist Church Fanin Street, and had a love for working in her yard.
Mrs. Dollar is survived by her daughters, Zelda Dollar-Waring and her husband, Marquis Waring and Janet Stockdale and her husband, Damiane Stockdale; her brother, Robert I. Culver (Mary); her granddaughter, Simone Dollar; her nieces, nephews and other extended family. The family will receive friends at Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter-Allen-Myhand on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM. A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Restlawn Memory Gardens in LaGrange.
